Resellers and brand-sensitive products want ns1.theirname.com. Operating anycast DNS for that name is the expensive part. Vanity nameservers keep the brand; Cloud DNS keeps the network.
A name, not a new network
Queries still land on 210+ DDoS-protected Anycast servers. Customers see your NS hostname. Steering features do not change.
Glue is the outage you forget
A and AAAA glue at the parent must match. Broken glue looks like a DNS outage even when authority is healthy. Monitor delegation.
Most SaaS only needs CNAME onboarding
Customer domains usually CNAME to you. Vanity NS is for when you are the authority they delegate to. Do not build it by default.
